Kit Connor, a leading star of Netflix hit Heartstopper, has been forced to publicly come out as bisexual. The English actor, 18, who stars as Nick Nelson in the LGBTQI

Kit Connor, the “Heartstopper” star came out as bisexual on Monday after he was accused of queerbaiting fans of the LGBTQ show.

The 18-year-old British actor, who starred as rugby player Nick Nelson in the gay coming-of-age drama, made the announcement in his first post in seven weeks on Twitter.

“Back for a minute,” Connor wrote. “i’m bi. congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. i think some of you missed the point of the show. bye.”

Prior to his latest tweet, he had tweeted in May, his amusement that people were speculating about his sexuality.

Connor had previously spoken about the pressure he and costar Joe Locke had been under to publicly discuss their sexuality. Instead, Connor said he preferred not to use any labels.

“We’re still all so young. To start sort of speculating about our sexualities and maybe pressuring us to come out when maybe we’re not ready,” Connor told the Reign With Josh Smith podcast in May.

“For me, I just feel perfectly confident and comfortable with my sexuality. But I don’t feel the need to really, you know — I’m not too big on labels and things like that.

I’m not massive about that. I don’t feel like I need to label myself, especially not publicly.”

In Heartstopper he starred, Connor plays Nick opposite Locke’s character of Charlie as the two high school boys begin a friendship that turns romantic.

Ever since he made his sexuality known, his Fans has raced to his defense on Monday, welcoming him to the LGBTQ community while admonishing those who had pressured him.

“it makes me feel sick to my stomach that people we’re accusing kit of queerbaiting so much to the point where they pushed him out of the closet. idk why people don’t realize that many celebrities aren’t queerbaiting, they’re just being themselves and don’t owe us a label.” Lexi misses harry tweeted.
