Queen Camilla Sparkles In Stunning Tiara And Sparkling Bruce Oldfield Gown For State Banquet In Germany
The formal dinner, which was held at the German president’s Bellevue Palace, saw Camilla dress elegantly in a show-stopping black and silver Bruce Oldfield gown, accessorizing with the Boucheron diamond Tiara and the late Queen’s fringed diamond necklace.
Her Majesty also wore the Grand Cross (Special Class) of the Federal Order of Merit, awarded to her earlier in the day by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and completed her look, with her usual blonde blow-dry and soft, natural makeup.
King Charles, meanwhile, looked smart in a coat and tails. Wednesday evening’s state banquet follows the royal couple’s first day out in Germany, which saw Camilla dressed in a chic blue coat, again by Bruce Oldfield, which she teamed with a matching Philip Treacy hat.
Her choice of shade was a sweet nod to Germany’s national bloom, the cornflower. In a sentimental touch, she added a turquoise and diamond brooch from the collection of the late Queen, which was given to her by Queen Mary on her 1942 confirmation.
Charles and Camilla were greeted by a twenty-one-gun salute and a fly-past after landing at Berlin-Brandenburg Government Airport.
Their visit to Germany came after their initial trip to France was postponed amid widespread French protests over President Emmanuel Macron’s retirement age reforms. President Macron said the couple’s four-day state visit was likely to be rescheduled for the beginning of summer, after Downing Street confirmed the French leader had asked the British Government to postpone the trip.
Wednesday’s outing was not the first time we have seen Camilla wear a tiara as Queen Consort.
