Narendra Modi born on 17th of September, 1950 is the first Prime Minister to be born after the independence. He has 5 siblings.

Modi and his family was living in Vadnagar in his childhood. Muslim community was also living nearby.

Most of Modi’s childhood friends were Muslims. Jasud Khan Pathan was one of his best friends.

In childhood, Modi’s friends called him ‘ND’, which was an abbreviation of his name ‘Narendra Damodardas’.

At a very young age, Narendra got in the habit of self-control. He first gave up salt, after that chilly, and after that he gave up oil. He loved gur very much but he gave up gur as well.

Modi considers Laxman Rao Inamdar as his guru.

When Modi started visiting the sangh shakha as a child, he met Laxman Rao for the first time. Laxman Rao Inamdar, also known as Vakil Saheb taught him about dedication and hard work.

He served tea at Mehsana railway station to Jawans during India-Pakistan 1965 war.

Leadership influence

When Modi came to power in 2002, gujrat was a electricity deficit state, there was a shortage of 2000 MW.

Then within one year he came in power, gujrat became power surplus.

When the drip irrigation was taught to farmers in gujrat, at first they were hesitate to use it.

Modi explained the farmers in simple language: ‘If your child is weak and you want to feed him milk to make him strong, then you do not put your child in a bucket full of milk, same is in irrigation.

Political Journey

At age of 8 in 1958, Modi joined RSS casually. Finally in 1971, he became a full-time member of RSS.

He has been sworn-in as the CM of Gujarat a total of 4 times. Meanwhile, before becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he never contested in elections and was never an MLA before.

He has never lost an election as a candidate.

He paid 29 INR for his lunch in the parliament canteen and became the first PM to do so.

PM Modi has signed 480 agreements and MoUs with the different nations.

Modi and mother

When Modi became Chief Minister of Gujrat in 2002, a reporter asked his mother why the chief minister of Gujrat did not give her financial support, his mother said: ‘Once Narendra found a one rupee coin in his childhood, i told him to spend it on himself, but instead of that he gave the coin to a poor girl in the village, so that the girl could buy books and pencil.’

After being appointed chief minister of Gujrat, first thing Modi did was to go and meet his mother.

Message his mother gave to him was simple: ‘Never take bribe.’

Prime Minister Modi doesn’t live with his mother because of his workaholic attitude. His mother lives in Gandhinagar.

‘My mother says what will I do at your home. What will I talk to you about? She also gets upset seeing me return late in the night.’

He respects his mother a lot and even touches her feet.
