Skier, 68, dies after he HIT a tree at high speed while swerving to avoid a group of people at French resort

A British skier ‘skied her last’ yesterday after she forcefully met with a tree in attempt to avoid skiing into group of people standing in the way.

The ‘forceful’ collision led to his death as he hit a tree at high speed. Rescue teams were alerted but they found the man unresponsive, and despite their best efforts to revive her, he went ‘cold’ eventually.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witness Statement

But a fellow British skier who witnessed the accident claimed the icy conditions on the route had caused the victim to lose control even before the accident occurred.

‘The man lost control on a very tight, icy corner of a blue run. He seemed to gain control and carry on, then he lost control again, heading straight on through the net indicating sign to show the right turn,’ the witness said, per DailyMail.

He continued: ‘As I got round the corner, I looked back and saw him lying on a tree trunk surrounded by other trees and rocks.’

The tragic news of the 68-year-old man comes after renowned ski resorts across Europe were forced to close large parts of their pistes amid an exceptionally mild winter that has seen a distinct absence of snowfall in winter sport hotspots.
