Princess Tatiana Of Greece Will Retain Her Royal Title After Divorcing Prince Nikolaos

The Greek royal household surprised royal enthusiasts with the recent announcement of Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana’s divorce filing.

This development has led to speculation about whether Tatiana, originally from Venezuela, will maintain her princess title. Typically, spouses do not retain their titles after a marriage dissolution, as evidenced by the case of Tessy Antony de Nassau, previously known as Princess Tessy of Luxembourg, following her divorce from Prince Louis in 2019.

The marriage of Prince Nikolaos, 54, and Princess Tatiana, 43, has concluded after nearly 14 years together.

In a statement, the Greek royal household announced: “Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana after fourteen years of living together, have decided to dissolve their marriage. Both express the difficulty of this decision, the deep appreciation and respect they have for each other, but also the love with which they have walked all these years.

“The same values of respect and understanding will form the basis of their relationship in the future, a relationship of deep and sincere friendship. They will continue to live and work in Greece, a place where they both feel at home. The family will always be at their side. Thank you very much for your respect and discretion.”

Prince Nikolaos, who The third child of the late King Constantine of Greece and his widow, Queen Anne-Marie, initiated a relationship with Tatiana Blatnik in the early 2000s.

Tatiana, who hails from Caracas, Venezuela, and was raised in Switzerland, pursued her education at Aiglon College and later attended Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Before tying the knot with Prince Nikolaos on 25 August 2010, she worked as an event planner for fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.

For her wedding, Tatiana stunned in an ivory Angel Sanchez gown adorned with a Chantilly lace overlay and a full-length veil, complemented by the loaned diamond and pearl Antique Corsage tiara from her mother-in-law, Queen Anne-Marie. The last public appearance of Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana together was in Windsor, UK, attending a memorial service for the late King Constantine at St George’s Chapel in February.

The event was attended by members of the British, Greek, and Spanish royal families. King Constantine passed away at the age of 82 in January 2023 after battling ill-health in his later years.

Ascending to the Greek throne in 1964 following the demise of his father, King Paul I, Constantine ruled for only a decade as the monarchy was abolished by a military junta. He served as the last king of Greece. Prince Nikolaos’ older brother, Crown Prince Pavlos, is currently the head of the Greek royal family.
