The Princess Royal Reunites With Her Royal Godson, During A Trip To Norway

The Princess Royal reunited with her godson, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, during a three-day visit to the country.

The pair exchanged a warm greeting upon arriving at the Norwegian Resistance Museum on Wednesday. Princess Anne, 73, looked elegant in a blue patterned dress and a cream jacket as she kissed the future Norwegian king, 50, on the cheek.

During their visit, the royals unveiled a plaque commemorating the intelligence cooperation between their nations during World War II.

This event marked the final engagement of Anne’s visit to Norway, undertaken as part of her role as patron of the Anglo-Norwegian Resistance Commemoration Project.

Earlier in the week, Princess Anne visited the Industrial Workers Museum at Vemork and attended a reception with the British Ambassador to Norway at the Ambassador’s Residence.

Before her engagement with Crown Prince Haakon, she also laid a wreath at the Commonwealth War Graves in Vestre Gravlund. Additionally, she met with members of the Norwegian Armed Forces at the Linge Club within the Akershus Fortress in Oslo.

Royal Godparents Of Crown Prince Haakon

Haakon, the only son of King Harald V and Queen Sonja, was christened at two months old in the Royal Palace chapel in Oslo in September 1973.

His godparents included King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, the late King Olav V of Norway, his aunt Princess Astrid, Prince Carl Bernadotte, and the Princess Royal.

Although Anne could not attend the baptism in person, she has met Haakon on several occasions over the years, including during King Harald and Queen Sonja’s state visit to the UK in 2005.

The British and Norwegian royal families are related through Queen Maud of Norway, who was born in Britain and was a sister of King George V, the grandfather of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
