A couple heading to their honeymoon after marrying only days earlier died in a horrific crash in Colorado that also killed the bride’s mother and left their one-year-old child orphaned.
HOW THE CRASH HAPPENED
Ruben Rodriguez, 33, and Juliana Rodriguez Plata, 37, were driving with their son and the bride’s parents westbound down I-70 in Wheat Ridge outside Denver around 8:30am on Thursday when a semi-truck carry pipes overturned.

The truck’s load spilled across both sides of the highway, causing at least three vehicles to crash, Denver 7 reported.
The bride’s mother, Luz Melba Martinez, died while her father and young son, Daniel, survived with injuries. It is unclear what caused the truck to overturn.

On Saturday, Rodriguez and Plata tied the knot and they had been traveling to the Colorado mountains for their honeymoon.
IT IS STILL NOT CLEAR
‘They were setting goals early for their kid, possibly have more children together and just had a normal life and just getting to begin their love story,’ Rodriguez Plata’s sister, Janell Rodriguez, told Denver 7.
‘We just want to know exactly what happened because they were on the other side of the highway. They weren’t even near the semi-truck.’
