King Charles Shares Emotional Reaction To Queen Camilla's Domestic Abuse Documentary

King Charles revealed that he was “reduced to tears” after watching a preview of Queen Camilla’s powerful documentary on domestic abuse.

The King made this heartfelt admission while hosting the stars of Gladiator II at Buckingham Palace ahead of the film’s world premiere on Wednesday.

During the event, actor Damian Lewis, currently portraying Henry VIII in Wolf Hall, mentioned how deeply moved he was by the Queen’s recent documentary.

Charles responded, “It’s very moving, isn’t it? I think BAFTA are interested in it.” He also praised the cast, saying, “Will you please give your fellow actors my regards. They are just brilliant in it.”

The King also spoke with Naveed Chowdhary-Flatt and Kerene Barefield, two of the documentary’s creators, and shared how the film had brought him to tears when he watched it during a preview in Scotland. “I really am very proud,” he added.

Charles was joined at the reception by Queen Camilla, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. However, Camilla did not stay for the entire event, as her schedule was adjusted this week to aid her recovery from a chest infection.

The gathering also marked the 100th anniversary of the Film and TV Charity, with Charles recently becoming its patron, continuing the legacy of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who held the role since 1952.

The royals had the opportunity to view iconic costumes and props from films like Titanic, Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World, and Dame Maggie Smith’s attire from the 1982 film Evil Under The Sun.

On the eve of his 76th birthday, King Charles planned to attend the glamorous global premiere of the highly anticipated Gladiator sequel at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square. He made this solo appearance after Camilla decided to skip the red carpet event to focus on her recovery.
