Over 25,000 Attend Jehovah's Witnesses' 2024 Convention In Abuja, With Nearly 600 Baptised

Nearly 600 individuals were baptised as Jehovah’s Witnesses during the three-day 2024 “Declare the Good News!” Convention in Abuja, Nigeria.

The baptism of 580 new ministers of the good news was one of the key moments of the event, held from Friday, November 15, to Sunday, November 17, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

The newly baptised included 253 males and 327 females, with ages ranging from as young as seven to as old as 75. Before their baptism, each candidate made a public declaration of their faith, answering “Yes!” to questions affirming their repentance, readiness to live according to Bible principles, and dedication to their faith.

The peak attendance for the convention was 25,208 attendees.

Two more large conventions are planned for next month in South-South Nigeria. According to Olusegun Eroyemi, National Spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria, these conventions will take place at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from December 8-10, and at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from December 20-22.

The “Declare the Good News!” convention series, which began across Nigeria in August 2024, has since been held in various regions and will continue in the coming months.

The convention features Bible-based talks, audio dramas, interviews, and videos, all focusing on offering hope amid the challenges of today’s world.

Another highlight of the convention was the debut of the all-volunteer production “The Good News According to Jesus: Episode 1,” an epic portrayal of Jesus Christ’s life and teachings. This 18-episode series will continue to unfold at future conventions.

The convention runs daily from 8:20 a.m. to 3:50 p.m., with Sunday sessions concluding at 2:30 p.m. The schedule adjusts in states observing “environmental Saturdays” on the last weekend of each month.
