The Prince of Wales delighted fans with a social media debut on Thursday during a visit to Ulster University in Northern Ireland. Prince William, 42, made his first-ever TikTok appearance in a video recorded by a student, Samantha Johnson.

She asked the royal to explain why she would be late for her lecture, as proof to show her friend.

William playfully addressed the situation on camera, saying, “Leslie, I’m very sorry we’re late, but they seem to be caught up and wouldn’t believe you were here, so just saying ‘Hi.'” The unexpected video quickly garnered attention online.

The royal couple is known for their personal touch with the public. In 2023, Princess Kate made a similar gesture while greeting well-wishers on the Mall before King Charles’ coronation.

Upon learning that one of the onlookers’ friends couldn’t attend due to illness, Kate took the phone and spoke directly to the absent person, asking, “Are you feeling okay? Come and say ‘Hi,’ Julie, when you’re back here. I hope you feel better soon.”

Although it’s rare to see Prince William and Kate using mobile phones in public, they are believed to use them privately.
