Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been denied bail for a third time as he prepares for his s*x trafficking trial.
The 55-year-old music mogul, who faces serious charges, had sought bail once again before Thanksgiving, but will remain incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn until his trial in May 2025.
Combs is charged with racketeering, s*x trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution, all of which he denies.
US District Judge Arun Subramanian issued the ruling on Wednesday, following a bail hearing the previous week. Combs’ defense team had proposed a $50 million bail package, claiming it would be enough to prevent him from fleeing or intimidating potential witnesses.
In his decision, Judge Subramanian referred to evidence of Combs’ violent behavior, including a 2016 hotel surveillance video showing him assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, and cited concerns about the risk of witness tampering.
The ruling stated: “The Court finds that the government has shown by clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community.”
Prosecutors previously argued that Combs had been attempting to tamper with witnesses from jail, a claim the judge found supported by evidence. The ruling also mentioned that Combs violated jail communication rules, including paying inmates for their phone access codes to make three-way calls to people not on his approved contact list.
Judge Subramanian also pointed to “compelling evidence of Combs’s propensity for violence” in his decision.
Combs had requested release on a $50 million bond with 24/7 house arrest, even offering his mother’s home as collateral. However, two other judges had already agreed with prosecutors’ concerns that Combs poses a threat to the community and should remain in custody.
Combs appeared before a federal judge in New York last week, with his family present in court. He is accused of running a criminal enterprise for over a decade, allegedly involving orgies called “Freak Offs,” where women were drugged and coerced into s*x acts, sometimes involving male prostitutes.
Combs denies all charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and related offenses, and is scheduled to stand trial in May of next year. He has been denied bail twice before, including a $50 million bond proposal with round-the-clock monitoring and home detention.
