The photo, taken in the gardens of Buckingham Palace in April, shows the couple standing closely together with their arms around each other.

Charles is seen in a light grey suit and a blue polka dot tie, while Camilla is elegant in an indigo dress by Fiona Clare, paired with gold earrings. Their holiday message reads: “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year!”

The portrait is part of a series captured by photographer Millie Pilkington, with one of the images previously released to mark the first anniversary of King Charles’s coronation in May. The photographs were taken on 10 April, just one day after the couple celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary.

Charles and Camilla were married in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall on 9 April 2005, followed by a blessing at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. For their civil wedding, Camilla wore a cream knee-length dress by Robinson Valentine and a feathered hat by Philip Treacy, later changing into a pale blue and gold embroidered coat over a chiffon dress.

It has been a challenging year for the royal family, with both King Charles and the Princess of Wales receiving cancer diagnoses within weeks of each other. Kate completed her chemotherapy treatment in September, while Charles continues to receive outpatient care.

This Christmas, King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to host the royal family at Sandringham, with the Windsors attending the Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church.
