A dancer named Kim, from the Spicy Angels dance group, was arrested following public outrage over a viral video showing explicit acts performed during a live performance at Choggs Bar in Epworth, Zimbabwe.
The incident, which occurred nearly a month ago, sparked widespread condemnation and calls for legal action.
Kim was apprehended over the weekend after evading authorities despite initially promising to surrender. She appeared before the Epworth Magistrates’ Court on charges of public indecency and remains in custody pending further proceedings.
The controversial video showed Kim pulling a male patron on stage, removing his trousers, and engaging in explicit acts in full view of the audience. The male participant also took part in similarly inappropriate behavior, escalating public anger.
In response, the Dancers Association of Zimbabwe (DAZ) suspended Kim’s performance license.
DAZ President Harpers Mapimhidze stated, “We are launching an investigation and will revoke the dancer’s license. Such actions are unacceptable. She should focus on dancing, not performing explicit acts on stage. She had promised to turn herself in but has been avoiding authorities.”
Authorities have condemned the act as a violation of public decency, and the incident has prompted calls for stricter regulation of performers in nightlife venues. Kim’s arrest came after weeks of evading authorities, following a summons for questioning issued to her and the leader of her dance group.
