Ondo State: 'Pastor' Detained For Alleged Involvement In Multiple Kidnappings

Terry Tinate Augustus, a notorious kidnapper known as “Black,” has been arrested in the Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Augustus, who claimed to be a pastor from the Ajapa community in Ese Odo LGA, was apprehended by the Amotekun Corps in collaboration with Engr. Alore Omosuyi, the Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Pipeline Surveillance and Waterways Security.

The arrest took place on December 8, 2024, following intelligence from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad.

According to a statement from the office of the Special Assistant to the Governor, Augustus is believed to be a key figure in a violent kidnapping syndicate and has been linked to numerous abductions, including a recent high-profile case in Lagos.

The operation that led to Augustus’ capture was prompted by the earlier arrests of two members of the gang, Promise Mafimisebi and Monday Ikuesan, in Lagos.

During questioning, Mafimisebi revealed that the gang had received a $52,000 ransom from the kidnapping of Isa Ososa in Lagos and identified Augustus, known as “Black,” as a member of their group.

The gang was known for targeting wealthy individuals in urban areas, using swift abduction tactics and stolen vehicles to carry out their crimes.

The operation’s success was made possible through the strategic collaboration between Engr. Omosuyi and the Amotekun Corps, whose combined efforts and surveillance expertise led to the swift capture of the suspect.
