Passenger Arrested For Allegedly Attempting To Divert A Domestic Mexican Flight To The United States
A passenger was arrested on Sunday, December 8, for allegedly attempting to divert a domestic Mexican flight to the United States, according to Volaris Airlines and Mexican authorities.
The incident prompted an emergency landing at Guadalajara Airport and is currently under investigation.
The flight, which departed from El Bajío Airport and was bound for Tijuana, was disrupted when the passenger reportedly tried to forcibly redirect the plane.
Volaris stated that the crew acted swiftly, following established security protocols, leading to the passenger’s detention upon arrival in Guadalajara.
Mexico’s Federal Civil Aviation Agency confirmed that the National Guard was alerted, though details of their involvement remain unclear. Attempts to secure further comments from Mexico’s federal Department of Security and Volaris were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
Volaris assured that no passengers or crew members were harmed and apologized for the inconvenience. The airline reiterated its commitment to prioritizing the safety of all aboard.
Following the incident, the flight continued to its destination in Tijuana without further issues.
