Princess Kate was greeted with enthusiastic applause as she hosted her annual Christmas carol service for the fourth consecutive year. Reflecting on the event, Kate, 42, shared that she “didn’t know” what 2024 would bring when she hosted the previous year’s service.

Kate looked stunning in a festive red coat adorned with a black oversized bow by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen as she arrived at Westminster Abbey in London. Outside the church, she was warmly welcomed by The Very Reverend Dr. David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster.

Before her family arrived, Kate greeted celebrity guests and performers in the Abbey’s Chapter House, mingling with other attendees. When singer Paloma Faith expressed sympathy for the Princess, who underwent chemotherapy this year, Kate responded, “I didn’t know this time last year it was going to be the year I’ve just had.”

Kate’s husband, Prince William, arrived next with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The young royals stopped by the Kindness Tree outside the Abbey to hang their personal dedications before heading inside for the service. Charlotte received a delightful surprise during the service.

The Abbey was beautifully decorated with trees and foliage from Windsor Great Park, donated by the King, and adorned with twinkling lights and nature-inspired ornaments.

Each guest received an Order of Service featuring a heartwarming illustration by Charlie Mackesy, showing a group of people walking through the snow toward the Abbey with the caption: “How did I help? ‘You were by my side, which was everything.'”

The service, dedicated to those who have shown love, kindness, and empathy, was a celebration of how love connects us all, especially in times of joy and sorrow.

Each guest also received a letter from the Princess, which read: “This Carol Service is a heartfelt celebration of every one of you, and a reminder that at Christmas, and throughout the year, we must all shine for each other. Because in times of joy and sadness, we are all each other’s light.”

The Princess is gradually returning to public duties after her cancer treatment, while the King continues to receive care from specialists. The service provided a moment of reflection on the importance of loved ones during difficult times.

Kate, dressed in red for the occasion, waved to the crowds gathered outside the Abbey. She paired her McQueen coat with an Emilia Wickstead tartan skirt and black suede heeled boots.

Prince William stood proudly beside her, accompanied by their children. George and Louis wore navy suits and red ties to match their father, while Charlotte wore a burgundy coat with navy tights.

The family’s touching moment at the Kindness Tree included Louis’ handwritten note dedicated to Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, which read: “Thank you to granny and grandpa because they have played games with me.”
