Prince Albert of Monaco embraced the future of sustainable racing on Monday, taking the wheel of the Extreme H prototype hydrogen-powered race car.
The Monegasque royal, who has competed as a bobsleigh pilot in five Olympic Games, swapped the ice track for the tarmac as he drove the ‘Pioneer 25’ single-seater from the Prince’s Palace of Monaco to the Hotel Hermitage.
A strong advocate for environmental sustainability, following in the footsteps of King Charles, Prince Albert used the £1.2 million race car to highlight the potential of hydrogen technology to revolutionize clean mobility.
Speaking on his commitment to renewable energy, Prince Albert II said, “Hydrogen represents a significant pathway to a sustainable future, providing solutions to reduce emissions in various sectors. It was a pleasure to be among the first to test this extraordinary race car here in Monaco, a country renowned for hosting iconic motorsport events like Formula One and Formula E.”
The Pioneer 25, developed by Extreme H, demonstrates that sustainability and speed can go hand in hand, advocating for a cleaner, more eco-friendly future in motorsport.
