Princess Josephine Of Denmark Makes Her Acting Debut

Princess Josephine, the 13-year-old daughter of King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark, has quietly stepped into the spotlight with her on-screen acting debut.

The young royal appeared in an episode of DR’s Christmas calendar series, Tidsrejsen (Time Travel 2), which aired on Wednesday night. Set in the 1990s, Josephine portrayed a character named Kate, donning pigtails and denim dungarees for the role.

Neither DR nor the Danish Royal Palace announced Josephine’s appearance in advance. However, the Royal Household’s communications manager, Lene Balleby, confirmed to Billed Bladet that the princess auditioned for the role alongside other aspiring actors and earned the part on merit.

This isn’t Josephine’s first experience on stage. Last year, she performed in a production of Peter Pan at Tivoli Copenhagen. Her budding interest in the arts appears to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother, Queen Margrethe.

Queen Margrethe, who abdicated in January after a 52-year reign, is renowned for her artistic contributions, including a cameo in the 2009 film The Wild Swans. She has also worked as a scenographer and costume designer for ballet and film productions.

Last weekend, Margrethe received a standing ovation at the restaging of The Nutcracker at Tivoli, where she designed the set and costumes. King Frederik, Queen Mary, and their children, including Princess Josephine and her twin brother, Prince Vincent, were in attendance to show their support.

Born on January 8, 2011, just 26 minutes after Prince Vincent, Princess Josephine began attending Kilegård Privatskole in Hellerup in September 2023. Earlier this year, she joined her parents on an official visit to Greenland.
