Queen Camilla Made Adjustments To Her Upcoming Schedule Due To Ongoing Side Effects From A Recent Chest Infection
Although she was originally set to play a prominent role during the state visit from Qatar, she will no longer attend the arrival ceremony at Horse Guards Parade but will instead participate in the arrival lunch at Buckingham Palace.
Doctors have recommended that Camilla take time to rest and fully recover. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his first wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, are visiting from December 3 to December 4.
Despite the changes to her schedule, the 77-year-old Queen is still expected to attend a grand state banquet on Tuesday evening, during which both the Emir and King Charles will deliver speeches.
However, she is likely to take a short break before dinner while guests are welcomed in a receiving line.
The Queen first noticed symptoms after returning with Charles from their tour of Australia and Samoa in October. Concerns about her health arose when she withdrew from Remembrance events in November, leading her to miss several significant occasions, including the Royal Variety Performance.
Buckingham Palace stated that doctors have advised the Queen to rest as she “continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms,” and due to her recent chest infection, she should prioritize adequate recovery after a busy week of engagements.
A spokesperson added, “With great regret, she has therefore withdrawn from attendance at tonight’s Royal Variety Performance, while His Majesty will attend as planned.”
Although she is on the mend, the lingering symptoms of a chest infection can take time to resolve. Given the duration and timing of the outing, it is wise for Her Majesty to follow medical advice and avoid overexerting herself during her recovery.
