The Duchess Of Sussex Makes Final Appeal In Effort To Launch Lifestyle Brand

Meghan Markle has requested a three-month extension to finalize the trademark for her lifestyle brand, “American Riviera Orchard,” after her initial application was rejected in September

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) denied her original filing, citing the rule that geographic names cannot be exclusively claimed by any business operating within the same area.

If the extension request is denied, Meghan, a mother of two, will have to restart the entire application process.

Alongside concerns over the brand name, the USPTO also noted that more details were needed regarding certain products, such as cooking utensils and napkins, to clarify their categorization. These kinds of office actions are routine during the trademark application process.

The 43-year-old Duchess first revealed her brand in March, introducing a website and Instagram account with a promotional video.

Meghan’s brand will stock a variety of products

The video showcased Meghan engaging in various activities like flower picking and baking, dressed in a stunning black dress reminiscent of a fairy tale.

Prior to this, Meghan ran a lifestyle blog, The Tig, which she shut down after marrying Prince Harry and becoming a senior royal.

It appears Meghan is keen to revive her lifestyle brand, with her new show for Netflix, which celebrates cooking, gardening, entertainment, and friendship, adding to her efforts.

In April, Meghan sent out some of her brand’s products, including a beautifully packaged jar of jam, to close friends like fashion designer Tracy Robbins and Delfina Blaquier, the wife of polo player Nacho Figueras.

Tracy shared a photo of the gift on Instagram, expressing her gratitude and humorously noting that she might keep the jam all to herself.

Awesome sent!
