Kano State: Police Arrest Man For Stabbing Neighbour During Dispute Over An Electricity Bill

A Sharia Court in Kano State has ordered the remand of a 29-year-old man, Abduljabar Nura, for stabbing his neighbour during a dispute over an electricity bill.

Nura, a resident of Fagge Quarters, Kano, was charged with causing grievous harm. When the charge was read in court on Wednesday, March 12, he pleaded guilty.

Presiding Judge Umar Lawal-Abubakar ordered that Nura be remanded at Goron Dutse Correctional Centre until April 15, when sentencing will take place.

According to prosecution counsel Zahradeen Abubakar, the case was reported by the complainant, Haruna Kasim, at the Fagge police station on February 28.

The police report states that Nura and Kasim got into an argument over an electricity bill, during which Nura stabbed Kasim in the back with a pair of scissors.
