A 37-year-old man, Omoyiola Oladipupo, has been remanded in custody by a magistrate court in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State over allegations of forgery.

Oladipupo was arraigned on Friday on three charges: conspiracy to commit a felony, forgery, and using counterfeit seals. He was accused, along with one Taiwo Bamidele and others still at large, of forging a court document for the dissolution of marriage and the seal of the Lagos State Cash Office.

According to the charge sheet obtained by PUNCH Metro, the accused allegedly created the fraudulent documents on December 11, 2021, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, with the intent to deceive and defraud. The forged documents were intended to secure full custody of the only child from the marriage.

The charge reads in part, “That you, Omoyiola Oladipupo, one Mrs. Taiwo Bamidele (aka Mama TPP), and others at large, on or before December 17, 2021, at the Marriage Registry, High Court of Lagos State, Yaba, did conspire to commit forgery using false documents and counterfeit seals, an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

It continues, “That on the same date and place, with the intent to deceive and defraud, you forged a purported Decree of Dissolution of Marriage in Suit No. IKD/12862HD/2021, intending to take full custody of the child, Morenikeji Omoyiola, a document you knew to be fake, an offence punishable under Section 365 (3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.”

Magistrate Adedayo Tella has set May 13, 2025, for a hearing and granted Oladipupo bail in the amount of N1 million with two sureties who must demonstrate financial capability. Oladipupo will remain in custody until the bail conditions are met.
