Royal Shock: Prince William Reacts: “I Was Surprised”

Prince William was all smiles during a heartwarming visit to Mentivity House, a youth centre nestled in the lively Aylesbury Estate in south London — but it was his candid reaction to King Charles’ latest move that stole the show.

The Prince of Wales charmed everyone he met with his signature humour and down-to-earth nature, yet admitted to being taken aback by his father’s newly curated Apple Music playlist, The King’s Music Room.

“I was expecting a lot of classical music,” William said with a laugh. “So I was surprised.”

The playlist — far from the traditional symphonies he imagined — features an eclectic mix of tracks, including songs from Kylie Minogue, Bob Marley, and Grace Jones, much to William’s amusement.

While chatting with Mentivity House director Adeyemi Michael, William was asked if he thought his father might have slipped in some “Garage and UK Funky” tracks.

With a cheeky grin, the Prince replied: “I’m not sure he’d know what that was.”

Earlier, William was warmly welcomed by Mentivity founder Sayce Holmes-Lewis, who led him through the local streets where he grew up.

The visit had no shortage of spontaneous, feel-good moments — including a joyful hug from excited local resident Oluwaseyi Soyebo-Idowu, who exclaimed: “Let me give you a hug. I see a Prince! A King of England!”

William responded with a laugh: “Do you want to come on the visit as well? Are we going to go around together?”

Ever the crowd-pleaser, the royal paused for selfies and even encouraged one fan, saying: “Go for it, you’ve got to be quick!”
