Prince Jacques And Princess Gabriella Of Monaco Mark A Special Milestone With First Communion
Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella of Monaco celebrated a significant moment in their young lives this weekend, as the royal twins made their First Communion. Rarely-seen photos released by the Monaco royal family captured the special day, which took place on Sunday.
The twins, who turned 11 in December, were pictured beaming in matching white, floor-length tunics, each adorned with a wooden crucifix. Princess Gabriella completed her look with an elegant white headband. The siblings posed together and with their parents, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, outside Monaco Cathedral.
Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, dressed in subdued tones of grey and navy, looked every bit the proud parents.
The occasion holds deep religious significance for the royal family, who shared the news on Instagram with the message: “On this day of their First Communion, we extend our most sincere congratulations to Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, who received this sacrament with faith and reverence.”

Royal watchers were quick to send their well wishes. “Congratulations! I can’t believe the twins are this big already,” wrote one fan. Another added, “I’m sure their grandmother HSH Princess Grace, a very religious lady, is very proud of them in heaven.”
Born in 2014, Jacques is the heir to the Monegasque throne and has already begun stepping into royal duties alongside his sister. The pair recently accompanied their parents on an official visit to Brittany.
Prince Albert, son of the late Princess Grace (formerly Hollywood icon Grace Kelly), has ruled Monaco since 2005. He married former Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock in July 2011, and the twins were born three years later.
Although the family maintains a relatively private life, Princess Charlene shared rare insight into her parenting journey in a 2024 interview.
“It’s definitely difficult to find time alone with each of them, but it’s so important,” she said. “The conversations I have with Jacques are so different from those with Gabriella. Gabriella is incredibly curious and asks many questions—she needs a lot of attention. Jacques is also curious, but more reserved. He’s a calm observer by nature.”
