Footballer Sued By Ex-Girlfriend For £4.5 Million Over Alleged Betrayal And Breakup

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is facing a legal battle with his ex-girlfriend, Camila Mayan, who is reportedly demanding £4.5 million ($6 million) in compensation following the breakdown of their relationship.

According to reports, Mayan filed the lawsuit after Mac Allister ended their five-year relationship in late 2022 — just days after the Argentine footballer helped his country win the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Mayan alleges that Mac Allister abruptly ended their long-term relationship to pursue a new romance with his current partner, Ailen Cova, who is now expecting a child with the Liverpool star. She claims the split followed infidelity and that she was effectively forced to leave England after the breakup.

Mayan is reportedly seeking $250,000 (£185,000) for each month she and Mac Allister lived together abroad, totaling approximately $6 million over two years. The compensation claim is based on what she describes as the “shared life” they built while living outside Argentina.

While Mayan initially hoped to have the case tried in her home country, a recent court decision ruled that the case will be heard in England — a development considered a setback for her legal efforts.

Speaking to A la Tarde via Paparazzi, Mayan commented on the ongoing proceedings:
“Everything’s fine, we’re seeing what we do next… You don’t necessarily have to go directly elsewhere. I’ll see what I do.”
She added: “It’s more of the same. We all know that things in the courts can take a long time, so it’s normal, right? I don’t have any contacts in the courts. I don’t know them.”

Mac Allister briefly addressed the lawsuit in November 2024, telling reporters:
“There was no more relationship. She took her path, I took mine, and that’s it. As for the other thing [the lawsuit], everything is in court where it should be, and we are waiting.”

When questioned about the allegations — including claims of infidelity and that he withheld Mayan’s belongings — Mac Allister said:
“I think it’s normal in a relationship — she made the decision to come out and make public things that she felt or believes happened, but I know how things went and that’s why I’m very calm.”

Mayan, in response, denied seeking publicity and criticized the portrayal of her in the media:
“Sorry? I didn’t say anything when he was with someone else — it came out somewhere else. I learned a lot of things from TV. The other day, someone close to him talked about getting married. I didn’t say that.”

“I have to swallow all this, but I’m not the one going around telling the press things. They want to make me look like a media figure because it looks better for them.”

The legal battle now shifts to British courts, where the outcome could set a precedent for high-profile compensation claims in personal relationships abroad.
