Israeli hackers breached Iranian TV to urge people to take to the streets in protest against the country’s government, Tehran has claimed. 

On its Telegram channel, the Hamshahri daily newspaper shared a video of the brief disruption, which featured images of women’s protests, on Wednesday. 

It also posted a text saying ‘hackers infiltrated state television and broadcast a call asking people to take to the streets’.

Iran’s state television later warned viewers that this was ‘due to cyberattacks carried out by the Zionist enemy that is disrupting the satellite transmission’.

Meanwhile, news site ‘Iran International’, based in London, said TV channels in the region were targeted by the ‘Zionist enemy’.

The Iranian broadcasting corporation also announced the disruptions in a statement saying: ‘If unrelated images are seen, the reason is the disruption of satellite signals on the network by the Zionist enemy.’ 

It comes as the Israel-Iran conflict rages on for a sixth day with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei threatening the US with an all-out war.

Earlier, Donald Trump addressed the media for the first time since he called a Situation Room crisis meeting to decide whether the U.S. will join the strikes on Iran.
