U.S. President Donald Trump Nominated By Pakistan For Nobel Peace Prize, Praising His “Decisive Diplomatic Intervention”

In a bold diplomatic move, the government of Pakistan has officially nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, praising his “decisive diplomatic intervention” during a volatile military standoff with India earlier this year.

According to an official statement released by Islamabad, Trump’s “pivotal leadership” was instrumental in de-escalating the worst India-Pakistan conflict since the 1971 war. The confrontation, sparked by a series of cross-border strikes, claimed dozens of lives and raised international alarm over the risk of a full-scale war between two nuclear-armed nations.

A U.S.-brokered ceasefire was achieved on May 8, even as hostilities continued in the disputed Kashmir region, a long-standing flashpoint claimed in full by both India and Pakistan.

“At a moment of heightened regional turbulence, President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi,” the Pakistani government stated.

The statement credited Trump’s intervention with helping to “avert a broader conflict between the two nuclear states that would have had catastrophic consequences for millions in the region and beyond,” describing the effort as a “testament to his role as a genuine peacemaker and his commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue.”

While Islamabad emphasized the importance of U.S. diplomacy in reaching the truce, Indian officials offered a more reserved assessment, attributing the ceasefire primarily to bilateral discussions and downplaying Washington’s role.

Under the rules of the Nobel Peace Prize, governments, international institutions, and certain individuals are permitted to nominate candidates. The Norwegian Nobel Committee ultimately decides the recipient.

Trump, who has frequently cast himself as a global peace broker, has previously criticized President Joe Biden for not halting conflicts such as Israel’s operations in Gaza and Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, fresh conflict is erupting in the Middle East. On June 13, Israel launched a series of major airstrikes on Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with drone and missile attacks. The week-long exchange has reportedly left over 400 dead in Iran, according to Iranian state media, and at least 24 fatalities in Israel.

Israel claims its operations targeted Iranian nuclear infrastructure and senior military officials. In response, Iran has launched strikes into both northern and southern Israel.

Amid the spiraling violence, Trump announced earlier this week that he would decide within two weeks whether the U.S. should intervene militarily in the Iran-Israel conflict. On Friday, he reiterated his diplomatic record while expressing skepticism about any formal recognition.

“I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the war between India and Pakistan,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do—including Russia/Ukraine and Israel/Iran, whatever those outcomes may be.”
