A retired vicar, Reverend Geoffrey Baulcomb, 79, has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent by using nail scissors to mutilate a man’s genitals.

The disturbing procedure, recorded in a video found on Baulcomb’s phone, took place in January 2020. Baulcomb also admitted to multiple other charges, including making and distributing indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography.

Authorities revealed Baulcomb had a collection of 31 indecent images of boys and girls, alongside 182 extreme pornographic images depicting serious injury to private parts, acts threatening life, and bestiality. Some of the material was linked to the Eunuch Maker website, operated by Norwegian Marius Gustavson, 47, who was sentenced to life imprisonment last year for profiting from similar content.

Baulcomb and Gustavson were reportedly acquaintances, exchanging over 10,000 messages over four years.

At the Old Bailey, Judge Mark Lucraft, KC, condemned the dangerous, unsterile procedure performed without medical training, emphasizing its permanent, serious consequences for the victim. The judge noted the added severity due to the act being filmed and acknowledged the shock to those who knew Baulcomb, who was described as a caring figure in other aspects of his life.

The sentence was reduced considering the victim’s consent, Baulcomb’s age, health, character, and guilty plea.

Baulcomb was expelled from the Church of England last year but was still ordained at the time of the offenses. Police arrested him in December 2022 after discovering the video footage from January 2020.

During a raid of his Eastbourne cottage, officers also found heroin and ketamine.

The Diocese of Chichester removed Baulcomb’s permission to officiate immediately after being informed by police, praising the Metropolitan Police for their proactive investigation.

Baulcomb was granted conditional bail after his plea, barred from Church of England premises and any contact with children under 18.
