Should The Royal Family Publicly Wish Prince Harry A Happy Birthday This Year

Prince Harry turned 41, and while Meghan Markle and their children would sure to make the day special, royal watchers are wondering whether the Royal Family would send him public birthday wishes.

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry has marked his birthdays quietly in the US, celebrating with Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, at their Montecito home.

Traditionally, the Royal Family only posts birthday messages for senior working royals on their official social media accounts. However, King Charles made an exception last year for Harry’s milestone 40th birthday, sharing a smiling photo of his youngest son with the caption: “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!”

Despite ongoing family tensions, the Prince and Princess of Wales also acknowledged the occasion by resharing the King’s message and writing: “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Sussex!”

Harry’s birthday this year comes just days after he returned to California following a solo four-day visit to the UK. During the trip, he attended several engagements, including a heartfelt appearance at the WellChild Awards on September 8 — an event particularly close to his heart.

With relations between the Duke of Sussex and the rest of the Royal Family still under public scrutiny, many will be watching closely to see whether this year brings another public gesture from the Palace.
