“Who Lets Their 12-Year-Old Get Piercings? Kim Kardashian Under Fire For Allowing 12-Year-Old North West To Get Risky Hand Piercing
Kim Kardashian is facing backlash over her parenting after allowing her 12-year-old daughter, North West, to get a potentially dangerous hand piercing.
The young Kardashian was spotted with what appears to be a dermal piercing on her middle finger while vacationing with Kim in Rome, sparking concern among fans and social media users.
Dermal piercings differ from traditional piercings because they don’t have both an entry and exit point for jewelry, making them more prone to complications, according to Healthline.
Piercing company Lulu Ave warns that finger piercings often struggle to heal properly due to constant hand movement and the high risk of snagging or bumps. Their website notes, “A dermal piercing may be a better option, but it can still reject over time.”
Social media quickly reacted, with some users pointing out what looked like a red, irritated bump near North’s piercing.

One Reddit user commented, “Oof, that looks like it’s infected!!”
Others questioned the decision itself: “Who lets their 12-year-old get piercings? My kid didn’t even have her ears pierced at 12.”
Another added, “She’s 12. What is Kim doing?!”
And a third chimed in, “It already looks rejected and painful… Poor girl.”

The debate highlights ongoing concerns about the risks of dermal piercings—especially on children—and whether such choices are appropriate for someone so young.
